Porsche prepares a version of the Panamera
Posted on July 3rd, 2009 No commentsGermans from Porsche prepare a series of new versions of the Panamera model, which can include a model GTS and an entry-level model, fitted with a V6 gasoline engine.
Porsche officials have announced they will create a version of the GTS’s Panamera, which will become the top choice Panamera. The model will be based on the Turbo’s Panamera and will provide outstanding performance, most likely due to a propeller of 4.8-liter V8, which will be surcharge. Unlike other models in the range Panamera, GTS version will be equipped with a conventional suspension with helical springs, in favor of a suspension in air.
Besides version GTS, Porsche and prepares entry-level model, fitted with a V6 engine, and a hybrid gasoline. Britons from Autocar reports that the Panamera could be available in a diesel version and a two-door model is already in progress. Diesel engine that could be implemented on the Panamera is Audi origin, and could be chosen or a V6 of 3.0 liters and 240 HP or a V8 of 4.2 liters.

Porsche Panamera
Posted on April 9th, 2009 No commentsThere’s no mistaking it for anything but a Porsche, but with four doors and four full seats, the Panamera is like no previous Porsche. Styled by a team of in-house designers under the direction of Michael Mauer, the Panamera is 195.7 inches long, 76.0 inches wide and 55.8 inches tall–making it slightly shorter but wider and lower than the Maserati Quattroporte, with which it shares a coupelike profile. As with all such silhouettes, “the real challenge is giving the rear-seat passengers enough headroom,” says Mauer. “The way that was done was to give a visual message that it’s a coupe–look at the chrome around the window–but make the roofline higher.” Unlike the Pininfarina-designed Maserati, however, the new Porsche has a large liftback, for easy access to the trunk. And the rear seats are individual, with tall backrests that can be electronically reclined. Nominal trunk capacity is put at 15.7 cubic feet, but folding the rear seats increases capacity to 44.7 cubic feet.

Porsche 917
Posted on March 19th, 2009 No comments
Time for a history lesson, boys and girls. So open your textbooks and let’s begin. It’s 40 years since Porsche gave us the 917, one of the coolest, quickest racing cars ever made. If you’re too young to remember it or not beardy enough to know, the 917 won Le Mans in 1970, and again in ’71 – the same year it was immortalised in Steve McQueen’s film about the race. But the 917 didn’t just win – lots of cars have done that. It was the way it did it. In 1971 it set a record 138mph lap, which no car has ever beaten since the organisers plonked a chicane on the Mulsanne straight. And talking of the Mulsanne, Vic Elford drove his 917 to 240mph along the 3.5-mile straight in 1970, in the rain, at night, which pretty much blew the opposition far into the French countryside.Entire article: www.topgear.com
